Aspects of Showing the Morgan Horse Clinic

May 06, 2007

A small but enthusiastic group of Morgan horse owners and breeders met at Willow Ridge Stables for a clinc on Aspects of Showing the Morgan Horse. It was a chance for the Northern members of the club to meet some of the Executive and their fellow Northern Morgan lovers.

Karen Gwillim gave a demonstration of Grooming for Show. She is a long time Morgan owner and has shown extensively in the past. She was a wealth of information on what goes into preparing your horse for the show ring. Stan Milford allowed Karen to use the gelding he brought for the driving demonstration for her grooming demo.

Stan Milford brought his gelding Circle S Midnight Dancer for a demonstration of show driving. Ron Sandhoff assisted Stan in tacking up Dancer and demonstration some of the gaits that may be asked for during a show driving class. Ron and Stan then gave attendees rides in the cart so they could get a feel of what it's like to drive a horse.

Many thanks to our clinicians and all who attended. Ideas are being pondered for the next possible gathering of the Northern members of the SMHC.
