Founded in 1975 with 10-15 members, the SMHC has gone through it's ups and downs like many other clubs.
One thing that hasn't changed through high and low memberships, recessions or fads is our passion for the
horse.
The primary objective of the SMHC is to promote the Morgan horse in Saskatchewan and beyond. Owners and
breeders of Morgans in Saskatchewan have greater exposure if we work together to educate people about the
presence of the Morgan horse in our province.
The SMHC exists to:
- support the program of the Canadian Morgan Horse Association
- provide a unified voice and effort on behalf of the Morgan Horse in this area
- stimulate interest in the showing, breeding, and pleasure use of the Morgan Horse
- promote good fellowship among Morgan owners and friends of the breed
We strive to foster the enjoyment, use and knowledge of the Morgan Horse, disseminate educational material,
sponsor and promote equestrian activities such as clinics, trail rides, and competitive events, and encourage
others to do likewise.
The SMHC is committed to this fundamental purpose: "To perpetuate the Morgan breed of horse by preserving
the original blood and type rather than by effort to bring about improvement or change in size, speed or other
features." (Purpose of The Morgan Horse Club, 1909)
